The Benedictine University Library maintains a selection of circulating textbooks available on a first-come, first-served basis. These textbooks are located on the Library 2nd Floor. Students may borrow Library textbooks for a semester long loan.

To check availability:

  • Locate a copy of your textbook list and other instructional materials needed.
  • Go to the Library website, select the "Books & Videos" tab, enter the book's ISBN number in the search box, and search.
  • If the book is listed as available, check the edition. Some new editions have very little changes, but ask your professor if you can use an older edition if that is the only one available.
  • If the book is not available, check I-Share. Some textbooks may be available from other libraries through I-Share, but please be aware that many of the most current textbooks cannot be borrowed.

If you cannot find your required textbooks in the Library, and they are not covered under a Financial Aid voucher, students may also apply for funds within the Benedictine University Textbook Assistance Program. This program was created to help students in need meet the cost of required texts for classes in which they are enrolled. To request an application, contact Dean of Students Marco Masini at mmasini@ben.edu.

The Library does not collect current textbooks. Some titles may be available from other libraries through I-Share, but many of the most current textbooks cannot be borrowed. Email a librarian at libref@ben.edu for more information.
